P.E. Agenda February 11-15

Parents,

February is Heart Awareness Month.  Here is a link to the American Heart Association website:

A reminder that PE shorts and shirts need to be worn underneath sweatpants and sweatshirts.  The shirt and shorts are what the students get credit for during class.  Sweatpants and sweatshirts are perfectly acceptable as long as the normal PE uniform is worn underneath.

We will be working on questioning during the beginning part of classes in preparation of I-STEP. The questioning will involve ideas related to our topics in PE class along with Math and Language Arts.

Middle school has been working on a teamwork unit. Some of the main ideas we are working on: making proper choices of words in regard to others (effective communication), getting out of our comfort zone of who we interact with during class, and making a meaningful contribution to the group (team). We will be working on these ideas during various movement activities that help promote proper teamwork.

Third, fourth, and fifth grades will be working with teamwork. We will focus on many of the same topics as middle school. We have been working with the scooters in addition to teamwork (relays and tag games).

Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade have been working on a basketball unit.  The initial phase is dribbling the basketball effectively--using fingertips, ball below waist, and knees bent.  We have started doing two-ball dribbling, which works both sides of the brain and is great for coordination.

Have a great weekend and good luck to our sports teams!
