This Week's Agenda

As a reminder: the seventh and eighth grade students should be logging their daily PE activities (30 minutes a day minimum for five of the seven days of the week accompanied by one parent signature a week for the six weeks that I do not see them for class).  The sixth grade will do the mile this week for President’s testing (General Music students on Monday and Band/Choir on Tuesday).  We stress pacing and breathing.  Any student that has an inhaler, due to asthma, needs to have it with them in class on their respective day.  Also, the final classes for first quarter PE will be this Thursday and Friday, so the sixth grade will receive the same homework assignment that the seventh and eighth grades are currently working on while they do not have PE.

The fourth and fifth grade will play a movement game that involves strategy, aerobic activity, action and reaction, and teamwork (cooperative activities).

The second-third grade split and the third grade classes will continue to work on jumping rope along with playing movement games that involve aerobic activity and teamwork.

Second grade (O’Neal) will continue to work on jumping rope along with kickball unit—learning fielding situations (where to throw the ball if it is kicked to the infield, to the outfield), and continuing to learn each position and responsibilities of each.

First grade will work on jumping rope and a movement game that involves strategy and teamwork.

Kindergarten will continue to work on jumping rope along with a unit that will focus on throwing and catching a tennis ball—throwing underhand the proper way (strong hand and weak hand) and catching with two hands—pretending the tennis ball is an egg.  We will start to learn how to throw the ball overhand this week as well.

Preschool will start to work on the balance beam and a partner movement activity.
